Shopping Lists

Generate organized shopping lists from your meal plan to streamline grocery shopping.

  • Open Meal Planner
  • Select date range:
    • Choose which days to include (e.g., Mon-Fri, full week)
    • Only meals with “active” status are included
  • Tap “Generate Shopping List”
  • Review the list:
    • Ingredients grouped by category
    • Quantities combined automatically (e.g., 3 separate recipes needing onions → “3 onions”)

Ingredients are organized by category for easier shopping:

  • Produce: Fruits and vegetables
  • Proteins: Meat, poultry, seafood, eggs
  • Dairy: Milk, cheese, yogurt
  • Pantry: Oils, spices, canned goods, grains
  • Frozen: Frozen vegetables, fruits, proteins
  • Bakery: Bread, tortillas, baked goods
  • Include non-recipe items (snacks, beverages, household goods)
  • Tap ”+ Add Item” and select category
  • Check off items you already have at home
  • Remove ingredients you’re substituting
  • Adjust amounts based on package sizes
  • Round up to avoid multiple trips
  • Reorder categories to match your store’s layout
  • Speeds up shopping by following your usual route

If multiple recipes use the same ingredient:

  • Platebreaker adds the amounts automatically
  • Example: Recipe 1 needs 200g chicken + Recipe 2 needs 300g chicken = “500g chicken breast” on your list
  • Ingredients displayed in practical units (e.g., “2 onions” instead of “240g onions”)
  • Option to toggle between volume and weight
  • Matches common grocery store packaging

  • Remove duplicate items from the list

  • Bread
  • Cooking oils
  • Spices you frequently use

Add these manually to each week’s generated list.
